Netflix has announced that the new voice of Ms. Frizzle in the upcoming revival Magic School Bus Rides Again (previously titled The Magic School Bus 360°) will be none other than SNL impression master Kate McKinnon.
McKinnon will take over the role previously voiced by Lily Tomlin in the new CGI-animated series as a “modernized” Ms. Frizzle with lots of new gadgets. Don’t worry, Carlos will be there too, armed with a “smart suit” and lots of bad puns. While there’s been a lot of revival/reboot fatigue lately, casting McKinnon as the Frizz is exactly the right move to get us excited about going on more educational science adventures.
Considering her Ghostbusters role as the charismatic mad scientist Jillian Holtzmann was one of our favorites of 2016, it’ll be exciting to see how the actress portrays our favorite eccentric teacher who’s also pretty outrageous (and dangerous). McKinnon also has plenty of experience in voice acting, with credit on films like Finding Dory and shows like The Venture Bros. and The Simpsons, so there’s no doubt she’ll be great.
