RocketNews24 reports that Japan is currently enduring its hottest weather in 90 years, and as a result, the country is going crazy for a product that saves the butts of overheated felines. Sure, the Cooling Aluminium Kitty-Cat Pot might look like just a bowl, but it’s basically a mini-fridge with a cat inside. Yes, please!
Investing in a Hie Hie Arumi Nyanko Nabe, which Rocket News says translates literally (and delightfully) to Cooling Aluminum Kitty-Cat Pot, will run you over 52 American dollars. Sadly, even if you were looking to spend that much on kitties’ comfort, it might be too late: the pots are in such high demand that they’re currently sold out on Amazon Japan. But don’t attempt to replicate the Kitty-Cat Pot experience using any old bowl! Rocket News says that the coveted coolers are specially designed to support cats’ bodies—even 4.3kg kitties like this one.
Maxin’, relaxin’, probably gloating.
Science at work.
Rocket News reports that Kitty Cat Pots are a variation on Japanese hinyari goods, or cooling goods. Hinyari goods usually just help humans bear the summer heat, but with all that fur and their proclivity for finding things to sit in, it only makes sense that the trend would evolve to serve cat needs, too. You might want to keep an eye on Fluffy McCool though: “pot” sounds suspiciously like “litter box.”
