Today, the content chief of HBO decided to kill my dreams. Casey Bloys is the programming chief for HBO and HBO Max, and in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bloys let us all know that we won’t be seeing HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us in 2022.
“The Last of Us is shooting right now in Canada. We haven’t announced an air date yet. But it’s not 2022. They’re still shooting in Calgary,” Bloys said in response to when we can expect to see the show and, well, Happy New Year everyone! I have now decided that it is January 2023.
Sadly, this isn’t exactly surprising. I just had the foolish hope that I would get to see Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie this year. The fact that the show is still filming means that we might get it in early 2023. but the fact that Bloys responded so simply makes me think it is still going to be a while before we know anything concrete. So, sorry if you were like me and were hoping that, this fall, we’d be spending our own version of the apocalypse with the one that Ellie and Joel are facing. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what is in store for us in 2023.
