.@lisabrowndraws & I are giving 1 million dollars to @PPFA. We’ve been very fortunate, and good fortune should be shared with noble causes.

It’s Pink Out Day, and illustrator Lisa Brown and writer Daniel Handler, the latter of whom you may know as Lemony Snicket, showed their support for Planned Parenthood today with a large donation. Lisa Brown told Buzzfeed:
My husband and I have supported Planned Parenthood for years, for obvious reasons: it’s a great organization that has provided top quality health care for countless women and families in our lives. This year, Planned Parenthood has gone through a series of unfortunate events, and it felt right to make our support more public and more dramatic.
It’s always great to see your childhood heroes speak out on issues like women’s rights (I was also really happy to see Bill Nye speak out against anti-abortion legislation recently). Brown’s statement emphasizes the need for vocal and public support, especially with the recent attempts to defund Planned Parenthood and constant misrepresentation of the work they do for women’s health care.
