I didn’t wake up this morning thinking I’d listen to a song featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, but here we are. Why? Because the Lil Nas X song “Old Town Road” wasn’t deemed “country” enough to be a part of the Billboard chart. Rolling Stone took note of Billboard taking it off the charts, and Billboard seems to only note that it doesn’t fit in their standards for modern country music.

Obviously, those who were listening to the song disagreed, because it continued to climb up the chart. Don’t worry, though; Billy Ray Cyrus said “hold my beer” and yeehaw’d his way right into that studio for a duet with Lil Nas X in one of the greatest remixes to date. Is this going to be the song of the summer? Can we make it the song of the century?

Twitter was going off all morning, joking about Billboard now eating their words, but also praising the song. (Trust me, it’s a great song.)

If you haven’t listened to it yet, come on this journey with the rest of us. Embrace the country; make it the song of the summer we deserve.
