Let’s be real: We all knew this one was coming. After a much-lauded first season, it’s not surprising that Netflix’s Luke Cage series would get a second order but it’s still a lovely holiday gift. The best part? The announcement came straight from the source—the show’s official Twitter account. As Newsarama pointed out, the short video shows Pop’s barber shop fully restored presumably by Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Bobby Fish (Ron Cephas Jones) after it was shot up in the season one finale.
It’s too early for a release date but we do know that Cage will be popping up in the Netflix miniseries The Defenders, alongside Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones. Rosario Dawson and Simone Missick have also been confirmed for the show, as has Sigourney Weaver in an unnamed role. In 2017, they’ll all be teaming up to fight crime in New York City. Think of it as Avengers lite.
Luke Cage stars Mike Colter as the titular character, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Theo Rossi as Shades, Erik LaRay Harvey as Diamondback and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
