Which is kinda scary no matter how you look at it.

I don’t know what’s scarier: the Cryptkeeper, Hollywood’s incessant need to cater to nostalgia, or the fact that M. Night Shyamalan is the person attached to revive Tales From the Crypt for TNT.

You read right. The classic HBO horror anthology series inspired by the EC Comics title of the same name by William Gaines is back, and this time on TNT. You know, the same network that gave us Rizzoli and Isles. However, TNT has been steadily expanding their horizons beyond police procedurals and into genre shows like The Librarians and The Last Ship, and it seems that they want that expansion to continue.

According to Comic Book Resources, EVP of original programming Sarah Aubrey says:

This is a new genre for us in our series efforts and a great chance to partner with M Night Shyamalan, whose blockbuster hit The Visit reminded movie audiences and critics this past summer that he truly is a master of horror.

Shyamalan will be executive producing this new Tales From the Crypt along with Ashwin Rajan (his partner in Binding Edge Pictures), Endgame Entertainment’s James D. Stern and Aloris Entertainment’s John Santilli and Dan McKinnon. (Whassup, dudefest!) However, Tales From the Crypt is only part of Shyamalan’s overall deal with TNT. He’s contracted to create a weekly two-hour block of horror/suspense content, with Tales From the Crypt acting as its “centerpiece offering.”

So, it looks like TNT is getting ready to deliver a weekly dose of Shyamalan. What do you think of that? Would you watch a new Tales From the Crypt? Tell us below!
