The Magic School Bus series was a childhood favorite that taught us about science through an entertaining, pun-filled, and engaging journey curated by the inimitable Ms. Frizzle. Netflix’s reboot, The Magic School Bus Rides Again continues this journey through a new host. (P.S., with Bill Nye Saves the World, is the streaming service just rebooting all our childhood favs?)
The description goes:
“Bus, do your stuff! The kids are back at Walkerville School for another school year of astonishing, out-of-this-world field trips in this all-new reimagining of the iconic science-comedy-adventure series The Magic School Busâ„¢.”
As the trailer shows, the big new switch at Walkerville Elementary is that Ms. Frizzle passes the keys over to her sister Fiona Felicity Frizzle. Lily Tomlin reprises her role as the original Friz, with Kate McKinnon as Fiona. From the looks of it, subjects this season include the deep sea, caveman times, and the arctic among others. Also, the theme song is sung by Lin-Manuel Miranda!? Seat-belts everyone, this is going to be one ridiculous and educational ride. (And then maybe a live-action with Tracee Ellis Ross won’t be too far away?)
The new show comes to Netflix September 22nd. Are you going to tune in?
