Tyler Gold, 23, legally changed his name to Tyrannosaurus Rex. In his official filing with the court, Gold stated he wanted to change his name to that of the lizard king because “[it’s] cooler.” He did, however, have another, sort of better (?) reason for the name change.

Aside from being the hippest Tyrannosaurus Rex on the block, Gold also said he wanted to change his name due to entrepreneurial reasons, stating, “as an entrepreneur, name recognition is important and the new name is more recognizable.” He also managed to restate his reasoning while on the stand in court, so either he truly believes it, or he’s very good at sticking to a story.

The judge that preceded over the case, Judge Alan Gless, asked Gold if he was filing for the name change in order to hide from creditors or law enforcement, but Gold assured Judge Gless that no, he sincerely wanted the name change for reasons other than those.

Everything went through swimmingly, and Tyler Gold is now officially Tyrannosaurus Rex Joseph Gold. The more you know.
