You may be unaware, but the Roller Coaster Tycoon series isn’t as ridiculous as a game about being a roller coaster tycoon sounds. The games tend to satisfy that SimCity-like urge to mindlessly build stuff, but you aren’t being invaded by the Greeks all the time like in an RTS. Like all good build-a-thing games, Roller Coaster Tycoon is simple enough to get the hang of shortly after picking it up, but provides an extremely deep experience just below the surface. People tend to build some really neat things with the series. Case in point, these classic Mario Kart tracks.

It’s always fun to realize that if a game engine allows players to build things, they’re going to build things from other games. That phenomenon isn’t just kept in a Minecraft-shaped box.
