“There was talk [of a one-off Sherlock episode in the middle of the current hiatus, but] amongst people who have nothing to do with Sherlock, I’m afraid.” — Well, Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss shot down that rumor. Interestingly, one of the “people who have nothing to do with Sherlock” was co-star Martin Freeman, who ignited the rumor when he said there’d been discussion—with Gatiss!—about a special episode. Tomorrow I expect Steven Moffat to say the episode hasn’t been ruled out entirely, and on Wednesday Benedict Cumberbatch will say it’s definitely not happening, because what’s Sherlock? Who is he? Why is he being asked all these questions?!

Gatiss added that the Sherlock crew, despite their hectic individual schedules, are “moving closer to agreeing [on shooting] dates… both [Freeman and Cumberbatch] are very keen to carry on and, as I say, we have made progress.”
