We’ve been jazzed about Marvel vs. Capcom 3 since word got out that it was not only a real game that was going to be made, ten years after Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but was coming as soon as spring of next year. There have been a few shots from the game in circulation since we showed you the trailer last month, but they’re outmatched by a stunning set of hi-res screen shots from the game that Capcom dropped last night.
Check ’em out after the jump:
Iron Man and his big ol’ gun are back. Also, Morrigan.
Ditto Hulk’s Gamma Slam: Great cartoony look.
I am less intrigued by Ryu kicking Wolverine in the face than by the giant, freakish Spider-Man balloon behind them.
Again, it’s what’s in the background that’s most important here: Note the presence of Servbot and Tron Bonne in the background, both of whom were playable in MvC 2. As nice as it is to see them acknowledged, their presence here may well mean they aren’t this time around.
Also: I really hope this isn’t one of those annoying close-range Hadoukens that doesn’t actually detach and work like a proper projectile.
Resident Evil‘s Chris Redfield, the only confirmed Marvel vs. Capcom 3 character who wasn’t in Marvel vs. Capcom 2, shows his mettle by shooting The Hulk with a shotgun at very close range.
Two notes: One, Resident Evil‘s Jill Valentine was in MvC2; two, the confirmed characters are Wolverine, Ryu, Iron Man, Morrigan, The Hulk, and Chris Redfield. Note that they didn’t show off any of Morrigan’s moves in the shots above, presumably because she is nobody’s favorite character.
