Season 3 marked Renner’s return after a devastating snowplow accident left him badly injured in 2023. If anyone was concerned the accident would tamp down the tough-talking actor’s swagger in the role of Mike McClusky, they needn’t have worried. Renner’s acting game is as strong as ever, and this season has delivered the acerbic dose of wit, intrigue, and above all, grit that we’ve come to expect from this series.

Some background on Mayor of Kingstown

Mayor of Kingstown was created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillion, and it premiered on November 14, 2021. It’s set in the fictional town of Kingstown, Michigan, where Mike McClusky and his family have been unofficial mediators between the city’s gangs, prisoners, and law enforcement. The show covers controversial topics like corporate corruption and greed, racial inequality, and systemic racism as Mike attempts to keep the peace in a very chaotic place.

There are ten episodes in every season. Episodes air weekly on Sundays, which means the next (ninth) episode will air on July 28, 2024.

Season 3 returned on June 2, 2024

This season has rapidly amped up the tension from the first episode, and by the time episode 8, “Captain of the Sh-t Out of Luck” aired on July 21, the action felt like a juggernaut that can’t be stopped. In this episode, the Crips have enacted revenge on the Aryan Brotherhood for murdering Rhonda (Nona Parker Johnson) by attacking the Anchor Bay. With grenades flying and a military-grade sniper taking shots at the yard, it’s no wonder how three of the ABs and a guard wind up dead.

Yet the villainous Callahan (Richard Brake) survives, and now he’s putting out a hit on Crips leader Bunny (Tobi Bamtefa) and every other member of the gang. The scene has been set … bring on episode 9!

Season 3, episode 9 is called “Home on the Range”

Tensions are boiling over, and the hospital will soon become a battleground instead of a safe haven. As stated above, season 3, episode 9 will air on July 28, 2024 on Paramount +. This is the last episode before the season finale, which will premiere on the streamer on August 4. That last episode is titled “Comeuppance,” so it’s sure to be a good one!

If you’re looking to catch up on this action-packed series, first two seasons of Mayor of Kingstown are also available to stream on Paramount+.
