Anyone who’s played the Nintendo classic Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! knows two things– that the first boxer you face, Glass Joe, is a total pushover, and that the bout with Iron Mike himself is legendarily hard. That’s why it’s so surprising to us that it apparently took Tyson fully 26 years to sit down at a NES and give Joe the pummeling he so richly deserves.
So yes, that one victory Glass Joe had was over Tyson himself. Upon hearing this, FOX Sports sat down with Tyson, broke out an NES, blew into a Punch Out cartridge a few times, and challenged the former champ to right this wrong and finally KO the plucky Frenchman. After a grueling match that you can see below, Iron Mike emerged victorious.
Now, can he keep going and beat Von Kaiser? We doubt he’ll be able to conquer himself, though. That remains one of the most brutal battles in the history of video gaming, and is not to be undertaken lightly by noobs. Not that we’re impugning your talents, Mike. We just…that is…please don’t hurt us.
