What with MineCon and the Minecraft 1.0.0 release this weekend, Minecraft has been getting a surge of attention unlike it ever has before. I remember hearing about the free weekend on podcasts, and then the beta release from my friends, and then I finally picked up a copy myself. Now, it feels like Minecraft is a household name, but is it? If so, when did it happen? This wonderful infographic by Visual.ly documents the rise of Minecraft by tracking its free and premium user accounts, and content. Where does Minecraft go from here? Who knows. Some place equally as revolutionary as the places it’s been, I hope.
