In an article discussing the casting of Kevin Pennington as someone in the Avengers movie, Marvelous News‘ “insider source” had this to say about what characters Pennington couldn’t be:

Nathan Fillion is pretty much locked to be Henry Pym, and should be announced before any other new additions to the cast (think around Comic Con).

Hubba-WAH?!  Why isn’t this the headline?  Well, consider it fixed.  Nathan Fillion might be in the Avengers movie that Joss Whedon is in negotiations to write and direct.

It doesn’t happen too often that we want to go off to the corner and make fangirl noises, but this is one of those times.

Henry Pym is probably the least famous founding member of the Avengers.  One of Marvel’s genius characters (a la Tony Stark and Reed Richards), in addition to his scientific intelligence, he has the ability to grow or shrink at will.  He has been otherwise known as Ant-Man, Giant-Man, and Yellowjacket.

So we’re not exactly seeing Fillion reprise his Captain Hammer role.  In fact, he’s quite a step closer to Dr. Horrible.  As we’ve said before, Joss Whedon excels at writing and directing for ensemble casts, and with an actor that he’s worked with as much as Fillion, we have high hopes.

Wait, does this mean we might get Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Edward Norton and Nathan Fillion in the same movie?  I’ll be in the fangirl corner.

Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
