If you have a favorite female athlete or you’re a athlete yourself, share it with the #NGWSD tag! Here are some athletes we find amazing and inspiring.
It’s no secret I idolize Serena Williams. When I played on my school tennis team, she was the standard with all her Grand Slams and she only continues to be amazing by speaking out against sexism, racism, and body-shaming.
Tatyana McFadden has 10 Paralympic medals (3 of which are gold) in different categories and had a big part in the Athletics Equity for Students with Disabilities Act as a national advocate for equal access. She’s also a student studying human development to be a child life specialist. #GirlGotGame
Alex Puccio is a nine-time American Bouldering Series winner and a total badass. Just look at those moves!
Debi Thomas was the first African-American to hold U.S. national titles in ladies’ singles figure skating. And she was also a physician.
These are just a few of the many awesome female athletes that deserve a shoutout today. Who are some of your favorite girls or women in sports?
