The crew is back in Jurassic World: Dominion and look scared

New ‘Dominion’ Featurette Celebrates the Legacy of ‘Jurassic Park’

Jurassic Park has become something that is a comfort to fans around the world. It’s a movie we share with younger generations and something that has culminated in what is now the sixth installment of the franchise with Jurassic World: Dominion.

In a new featurette for the final film in the Jurassic World trilogy, we get to see not only what this franchise means to fans, but what the original cast has to say about filming the first film with Steven Spielberg and what they thought going into it.

“We had an enormous amount of fun on the first film,” star Sam Neill said. He played Dr. Alan Grant in the original Jurassic Park and reprised his role in Jurassic Park III, before now returning as Alan in Dominion.

Star Laura Dern, returning as Dr. Ellie Sattler, she knew they had something special while making Jurassic Park: “There was an energy on set that it was the first time you’d ever seen anything like this.”

Don’t worry, though, in true Jeff Goldblum fashion (who is returning as Dr. Ian Malcolm after his return in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), he seems to have known what they had was special. “I was excited about everything that it could be.”

The video goes on to show what that original movie meant to the actors and creatives now bringing Jurassic World: Dominion to life, and that’s the part that, for me, made me so emotional—not because it’s people talking about a franchise they’re in, but because they’re explaining how it inspired them in their journey as creatives.

This franchise means a lot to fans for a reason. We come back to the dinosaurs and to Isla Nublar because it’s a world we want to be engrossed in. I looked up to Ellie Sattler as a kid. I wanted to be so in love with something like she was with dinosaurs and learning about them. We all watched as the raptors came for Timmy and Lex and cowered in fear. These movies mean the world to so many of us, and it’s just emotional to see.

What Jurassic World: Dominion has in store for us

The film is described as follows in the information for the featurette: “From Jurassic World architect and director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.”

So while this is the end and we’ll be saying goodbye (I hope just for now) to the story of Jurassic Park, it seems as if Jurassic World: Dominion is recognizing the legacy it is a part of and the emotion behind this franchise.
