I feel like for weeks now, The Mary Sue desks have occasionally been taken by a spasm of “Hey, hasn’t it been a while since we had a Hobbit production video?” that eventually became spasms of “You know what we haven’t seen in a while? A Hobbit production video.” and then full on “WHEN IS THE NEXT HOBBIT PRODUCTION VIDEO, GAHD.”

Well, now there is one. And it’s a real treat for anybody who, like me, feels that the making-of extras on the extended Lord of the Rings DVD sets have set a standard never since reached by any movie since. There are a lot of familiar faces from those videos here, in this video that focuses people who work at the Wellington sound stages, including the above lady who can be seen trying to get a plane for Howard Shore, which makes her a badass in my book. There’s also one familiar, blonde, guest star, if you stick it out all the way to the end.

Susana Polo thought she'd get her Creative Writing degree from Oberlin, work a crap job, and fake it until she made it into comics. Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
