This New Rogue One Trailer Comes With a Side of Humor

Maybe even a little more than we've seen before.

It’s hard to believe that Rogue One can possibly have any more footage to share without revealing major spoilers, but here we are with a whole new trailer. Disney and Lucasfilm released a new one yesterday afternoon–this one is titled “Trust”, and we very quickly learn why as a woman (I’m guessing Jyn’s mother, or perhaps someone else in her family?) gives her a crystal while imparting one simple lesson: “Trust the Force.”

Does that mean that Jyn is Force-sensitive in some way, or that the crystal she’s been wearing up until the events of Rogue One will serve some important purpose? That we don’t know, at least not yet. (The movie has to retain some secrets, after all.)

What we do witness in this trailer are some silly moments with a side of brand-new dialogue–at least in the case of Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Orson Krennic, who finally utters some foreboding words on-screen. There’s also some noted reluctance on the part of Alan Tudyk’s Imperial droid K-2SO, who isn’t exactly thrilled to be working for the other side. As for the humor, it’s really nice to glimpse some witty repartee between buddies Chirrut and Baze–which would imply that we’ll likely have several scenes of the two of them bantering back and forth over the course of the movie.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will premiere on December 16, and I’m already planning to snatch up tickets because (don’t forget!) they go on sale Monday.
