After a whole season of instant message exchanges, we finally get to see Supergirl and Superman together on the small screen in a new trailer released by the CW. “Skyfall” teases a catastrophic event landing in National City, which will force the Kyrptonian cousins to work together to save everyone.
If you’re expecting a dark and broody Man of Steel as seen on the big screen, you’re out of luck. Tyler Hoechlin says he will be quite different from that. “It’s Superman as I think he was intended to be, which is just an incredible symbol of hope to kids that they can do anything, that they can be good people, and that good people can triumph over evil. You don’t have to be dark and brooding and always in this state of masculine toughness. He sits in that very hopeful and optimistic place that Kara tends to be in,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
However, that doesn’t mean everything will be hunky-dory when the new season rolls around. Kara’s adoptive sister Alex Danvers will have some cold feelings towards Clark Kent, who left Kara to be raised by her family. “Alex has a little bit of a chip on her shoulder about Clark. She loves him and he’s family, but he left Kara on their doorstep. Kara is so excited to see Clark and so excited to be with him, it’s almost a little bit like Alex feels taken for granted, because she’s the family member who’s put in the time. It sets up an interesting conflict between her and Kara in the first couple of episodes,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said.
Supergirl returns to the CW on October 10.
