In November, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them kicks off a whole new adventure in the world of Harry Potter, but the franchise will have to find its footing without such familiar faces this time around. So, J.K. Rowling has provided a bit of an explanation of who Newt Scamander is that goes just a bit deeper than “textbook author.”

She doesn’t reveal much, but we do get a quick explanation that Newt feels like a bit of a misfit who ventures into an unfamiliar magical community and winds up embroiled in an adventure, which should sound fairly familiar. There’s also some new footage including shouting Americans, magic, and CGI creatures to round things out. It’s not much to go on, but we’ll take anything Potter-related while waiting for the release of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child script later on this summer.
