While promoting his latest film, Mr. Holmes, which we’re very excited about, Ian McKellen talks about the pressures of taking on iconic characters, the way he has with everyone from Gandalf, to Hamlet, and of course, to Magneto in the X-Men films. However, when asked about whether the rumors of him appearing as Magneto in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse are true, he not only denies the rumors, but seems not to have heard the rumors! His response is in the video above. My favorite part of his response being how he explains Michael Fassbender taking on the Magneto mantle:
Poor dear. Can’t get any work, so we let him do it. But he’s got three movies coming out this year. You’d think he’d let me do one of them.
Tee-hee, Ian. Tee-hee.
Meanwhile, if that news bums you out, this might cheer you up! So, remember how Anna Paquin’s Rogue was supposed to be in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and she was in the trailers and on the cover of magazines promoting the film, then ended up on the cutting room floor? Well, all seventeen minutes of her footage is being put back into the film when it comes out on Blu-ray on July 14th in X-Men: Days of Future Past – The Rogue Cut. Check out the trailer for the new version of the film below:
