Mark Ruffalo and Jared Leto played it smart at this year’s NYCC. They wanted to avoid being mobbed by fans, so they pulled an Adam Savage and went in full costume to retain anonymity. The only reason we know now is because they posted photos of their costumes to Instagram and Twitter.

Okay, so is it just me or does that picture of Ruffalo in that… mask look really creepy? Like, that’s the stuff of nightmares right there. This mask is going to plague my dreams for a little while at least.

And there’s something that tickles me about Leto tweeting a photo he took with a Leto-Joker while he’s hidden behind a mask. Somewhere, some cosplayer is just waking up and seeing his tweet and going, “Oh, WHAT?!” Believe me, I’d say the same thing, too.

I wonder what they did with their anonymity. Did they visit some panels? The dealer’s hall maybe? Or did they just wander? Tell us, NYCC attendees: did any of you pass by these two in full costume?
