Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars Episode II:

The ‘Obi-Wan Comics’ Will Give Us More of What We All Deserve, a Sexy Obi-Wan Kenobi

Is everyone ready for Hot Kenobi Summer?

Star Wars: A New Hope introduced the world to a galaxy far, far away full of family drama, cute robots, and space wizards. But that isn’t allā€”one of the most beloved characters in Star Wars history debuted and died in that movie. The sage advisor and seasoned warrior, Obi-Wan Kenobi, became a thing of legends when the movie premiered in 1977.

Yet, it wouldn’t be until 2022 that fans of Obi-Wan would finally get what they truly wanted (and absolutely deserved), a hot Kenobi Summer. See, in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, which started releasing in 1999, Ewan McGregor became the younger version of Obi-Wan. He took the character from fresh-faced padawan to bearded Jedi Master. And may we say, he looked pretty darn good doing it. So recently, when Disney Plus announced McGregor’s return as Kenobi in their Obi-Wan Kenobi series, coming in May, many of us rejoiced. But that isn’t all. Besides the series, Marvel announced a comic miniseries starring the beloved Jedi Master. Yes, please.

Also premiering in May is the new, five-issue comic book series. Written by Christopher Cantwell (The United States of Captain America, Marvel’s Voices) and art by Ario Anindito (Star Wars: The High Republic, Star Wars: Crimson Reign) the series will show several key times in Obi-Wan’s life. The main story takes place right before the events of A New Hope. Through his deep connection with the Force, the Jedi Master felt a change coming. So, he recorded a few adventures from his past in his journal, to preserve their memories.

Each issue of the series will explore a different time period. At least one story will be from Obi-Wan’s past before Star Wars: The Phantom Menace as a young Jedi initiate. Another cover hints at a new adventure with his master, Qui-Gon Jinn (played in the films by Liam Neeson).

Marvel set issue one to hit comic shops on May 4th (May the 4th be with you). Every subsequent issue releases at the start of the next month. Expect issue two around June 8th.

In summation, 13-year-old me is very much looking forward to all the new Obi-Wan material. For her, every summer is Hot Kenobi Summer, filled with never-ending pages of fanfiction. With all of this inspiration, fangirls should get creating too.
