This animated short is only ten minutes long and will make you feel all of the feelings. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
And I’m not joking about wanting a feature-length version. The OceanMaker “was made using nothing but laptops during a 7-week artist retreat on a small caribbean island,” and came out looking damn impressive—not to mention how neither the hero, nor the other character to appear on-screen, were white men, which would be a nice change of pace for a feature film.
If you’d like to support the artists who made it, the short is now available for sale through Vimeo on Demand. Of course, it’s free to watch, but buying it—for a fairly low price—gives you access to some additional bonus features on top of the ones you can already see for free on the movie’s Vimeo page.
