Artists have often looked to unusual materials to create their work, but Tim Sterling looked instead to the OfficeMax with his works composed entirely out of paperclips. Sterling uses different colors and weaves patterns through nets of paperclips, which seem both tightly ordered and deeply chaotic. In these works, Sterling seems to be  subverting of the hum-drum organized world of corporate offices by using paperclips in a new and challenging way.
Beyond paperclips, Sterlings’s work has included other office supplies such as pencils and zip-ties. He surely must be the bane supply cabinets everywhere.
