The Pokémon Company has announced that they’re going to bring their mascot to the Build-A-Bear stores, which will come with a limited edition Pokémon card and an addition Pokéball hoodie will be available for purchase. It’s not surprising to see Build-A-Bear team up with the Pokémon team considering they’ve had Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, and other non-bear merchandise before. While it’d be cool to see other Pokémon (Charmander), Pikachu is the obvious choice and the ridiculous number of Pikachu variants in the franchise make him perfect for Build-A-Bear.
If you don’t feel like driving to the mall or if you’d feel a bit guilty ripping the last Pikachu out of a young child’s hands (but not guilty enough to give it back), they’ll also be available pre-stuffed online with a sound clip along with the Pokéball hoodie and a second Charizard costume.
While I’m going to want one regardless, I wonder whether it’ll be the newer Pikachu (above) or the rounder, earlier one (below) which I think will be more cuddly. Will you be grabbing a singing, Build-A-Bear Pikachu?
