I wish upon your star! Robert Downey Jr.’s long awaited Pinocchio project has gained yet another writer (and one with a pretty impressive pedigree, too).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, There Will Be Blood and The Master director Paul Thomas Anderson has been enlisted to “write a draft with an eye toward directing.” A previous draft was written by The Giver’s Michael Mitnick.

Downey is slated to play Geppetto in the film, and was previously expected to star in Anderson’s Inherent Vice until Age of Ultron obligations forced him to step out of the project.

Although I’m less excited for Downey’s Pinocchio than I am for similar live-action projects currently in the works, I’m definitely curious to see how Anderson’s style influences the adaptation (the whale is a metaphor, right?).
