There is a certain joy that comes with every new Pixar movie, or at least, there is for me. Maybe it’s because I grew up as Pixar began to find its footing, or maybe because I still love all things Disney, but this new trailer for Onward seems like a fun time! The film’s teaser trailer introduces us to the Lightfoot brothers. Ian (Tom Holland) clearly seems to be a bit more responsible than Barley (Chris Pratt)
According to IMDb, the synopsis for the film doesn’t seem to be the happiest:
“Set in a suburban fantasy world, two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, go on an journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.”
But Chris Pratt as a big brother to Tom Holland? Didn’t know I needed it in my life, and yet, here we are.
While this is just a teaser trailer, it does bring up the feels of the Pixar movies that have come before it, and it forces me to ask myself a very important question: Am I going to like this movie just because it’s a Pixar movie, or does Onward actually look like a good movie?
Exploring the magic of getting to spend one more day with your loved one, the film already has the kind of emotionally weighty Pixar touch that makes me cry just thinking about it. (Please don’t bring up Coco around me. I don’t need to cry even more.) But, one thing that Pixar movies also include, from time to time, is singing, and with both Chris Pratt and Tom Holland, why not have a little brotherly musical number?

Onward is probably going to break my heart, and that’s fine, that’s great, WHATEVER.
