Despite Donald Trump’s insistence that he wasn’t “ranting and raving” during yesterday’s press conference, a lot of the things that have come out of his mouth have sounded incredibly sinister. The Daily Show already made him over as the Joker in video form, but for some reason the Red Skull seems even more appropriate, and the President Supervillain Twitter account making that happen feels almost a little too real.
The panels in the tweets come straight out of Marvel comics, but the original lettering has been scrubbed and replaced with Trump’s statements by the wonderful D.M. Higgins—which a casual viewer might not even have noticed, because they fit so perfectly.

It may seem like just a fun way to giggle behind Trump’s back about how cartoonish he sounds when he speaks, but it can also act as a helpful reminder that none of this is normal. It removes all the gaslighting and pretense that we’ve been subjected to lately and makes the right and wrong of our situation starkly clear, like some kind of bizarrely comforting alternate universe where we’re not expected to normalize this. If that sounds like something you could use right now, head over to the timeline and check out the rest.
