Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Reddit Is Helping ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Fans Navigate the Film’s Many Jump Scares

Sam Raimi is a master of horror. That’s clear in his Evil Dead movies and Drag Me To Hell and more, but it has also clearly influenced the way he brought Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to life. While someone like me is maybe used to the horror elements that Raimi uses in his work, it can be a bit shocking for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe who might not be used to his work.

So, if you’re not a fan of jump scares and want to find an easy way to make it through Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Reddit has you covered.

**Spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness lie ahead.**

If you’re very afraid, I suggest looking at the full Reddit post just to keep yourself from getting too scared in the theater, and if you don’t want spoilers, this guide doesn’t spoil the “plot.” The Reddit post has plenty of non-plot spoiler ways of describing what’s happening for fans who might be scared. “Characters are hurrying to cover up reflective surfaces in a room, which can grant access to an evil entity. A girl pauses to look into a puddle on the ground. Part of a person’s face with an eye surfaces through the water,” the post reads, and it’s indicative of how the entire post is handled.

It’s honestly a fun way of explaining a scary movie without spoiling anything because I do understand the fear of jump scares. There were parts of Multiverse of Madness when I sort of looked down because I knew that something was going to jump at me, and I wasn’t exactly thrilled to be scared. (Not that I don’t like horror, I do. I just wasn’t as prepared for the jump scares during my press screening.)

There are other descriptions like “A man has passed out. A woman opens one of his eyelids to see if he is ok. Evil souls are seen flying around inside his eye which then fly out into the room,” which is, again, the easiest way of describing the jump scares without just outlining exactly what’s happening in the movie for those who don’t want completely spoiled of the plot. The movie as a whole is described as “horror lite,” and I’d agree with that. There are some gory moments and there are some moments where you’ll find yourself screaming, but it’s not that bad of a movie if you don’t love horror.

Luckily, things like this Reddit guide should help those who would be put off of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness given the genre.
