The CW’s Riverdale Rounds Out its Casting With Veronica Lodge!

Ever since it was announced that The CW would be bringing the youths of Archie Comics to life in a “surprising and subversive” take called Riverdale, excitement has been bubbling up over just who we’ll get to see bring these classic characters to life. New Zealand actor KJ Apa will be playing Archie Andrews, while Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have been cast as Betty and Jughead.

And now we have our Veronica! Actress Camila Mendes has been tapped for the role, which describes Veronica in this adaptation as “extremely intelligent, self-confident and immediately popular”, but also “eager to reinvent herself–from Mean Girl to caring friend.” Definitely sounds familiar–at least partly like the complex Veronica we all know.

It’s still early yet, but it also seems like the cast is really excited about stepping into the shoes of these iconic characters–and definitely having a good sense of humor about it, Apa especially:
