Judging by past comment threads, I have an inkling you guys won’t be too broken up about this.

Yesterday, Deadline reported that Roberto Orci will be leaving the Power Rangers film reboot, citing his busy directorial schedule for Star Trek 3. This is the second project he’s left this year — he bowed out of writing The Amazing Spider-Man 3 as well, and apparently is done with that franchise for good.

Orci had originally been slated to executive produce and assist with Power Rangers’ story. He’ll be stepping away from both roles. Screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz — who wrote X-Men: First Class and Thor — will continue their work on the script. No director has been attached to the film yet, and casting is likely a long way off. Despite Orci’s departure, Lionsgate and Haim Saban are sticking to their July 2016 release date.

As for the story, I imagine robots and spandex will be involved, but beyond that, your guess is as good as mine. In the meantime, I invite you all to share your finest Rita Repulsa gifs in the thread below. I’ll start.
