My questions are as follows: where is that beach? Is that really appropriate bathing attire, troopers? And whose doll is that?

After dropping tons of character details and images yesterday, Entertainment Weekly has released some images showing Rogue One‘s stormtroopers, as well as the elite ‘deathtroopers’, a squadron tasked with eliminating the Rebel uprising. You can tell they mean serious business, their name has “death” in it.

In the latest EW images, we see the stormtroopers and deathtroopers in the shallows of what appears to be a beach in a tropical climate (EW reveals that those scenes were shot in the Maldives). Director Gareth Edwards explained that one of the movie’s most important battles takes place in that beach location, and that “There’s this sort of South Pacific, tropical paradise planet that subconsciously leads into some of the imagery associated with World War II.”

Another image shows a deathtrooper clutching a tiny stormtrooper doll that Lucasfilm apparently told EW has “special significance” in the story (it’s not just a deathtrooper’s regulation battle doll, in other words). The doll definitely reminds me of Rey’s rag-tag pilot doll on Jakku from The Force Awakens.

EW also shared a better look at rebels K2, Jyn, Bodhi Rook, Baze, and Chirrut. You can check out all the images in the gallery above.
