Scott Bradlee does some great work through his postmodern jukebox project, which features amazingly interpretive pop music covers sung by very talented local NYC artists (ask our own Glen Tickle about his love for Puddles the Clown, seriously). But his latest album, which is full of R&B versions of your favorite childhood cartoons, really takes the cake. Especially this Sailor Moon theme song cover. Dang.
Because I have been unofficially decreed the resident Sailor Moon expert here at The Mary Sue, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that the hairstyle that Andromeda‘s rocking here, while not the traditional odango, is very similar to a style Usagi wears in her civilian form on the 2003 live-action show Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.
It’s basically the cutest.
Anyway, you can get the whole album of slow jams (which includes the theme songs to Ducktales, Muppet Babies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and more) on iTunes.
