Variant cosplays are pretty much the best thing ever, if you ask me. And here’s one I haven’t seen—Sailor Cheerleaders! These cosplayers unveiled their new spirited look at Anime Expo in Los Angeles last weekend, and oh my gosh, are they just the cutest.
If any of these fantastic cosplayers look familiar, it’s probably because they’re from the Skirts and Swords team, which was also responsible for both the fantastically sultry Gotham Bunnies cosplay and the Babs Tarr-inspired Bosozoku Girl Gang senshi (which, for the record, is one of my favorites).
“It was exceptionally affordable and required little to no sewing,” Yume (Sailor Jupiter) said in her write-up for Defective Geeks. “We customized the cheerleading uniforms by adding embroidered letters, and cutting out felt patches […]. We also made our own pom poms affordably out of plastic table covers from Party City!”
The effect definitely works: I have never in my life wanted to wear a cheerleader uniform more than I do right at this second. Hey, you think you maybe need a Chibiusa for next time?
