Sharknado, produced by The Asylum for Syfy, was a ratings bomb, but did incredibly well on social media. Even so, there’s a sequel coming. As further proof that none can escape the, er, “sharknado,” it’s been revealed that the movie will come to theaters in August. Yeah, that’s happening.
According to THR, Regal Cinemas will be hosting midnight screenings of the incredibly unbelievable weather event at around 200 theaters starting August 2nd. So, I guess check your listings if this is something you really want to see on the big screen.
Folks from Regal seem to be implying that Sharknado has the same kind of audience as Rocky Horror Picture Show, which seems a bit presumptuous, but whatever sells tickets. Speaking of which, you can snag yourself a seat for the low, low price of $12.50.
If you’d rather not part with the money, however, you can always just wait until the sequel releases next year on Syfy. It’s sure to be a pinnacle of cinema much like the original.
