I just need to say this. I tried watching Twin Peaks years ago, and after three or four episodes, I gave up. I’m just not entirely sure David Lynch is my thang. However, that doesn’t stop several of my friends from gasping whenever I say I haven’t watched all of the original Twin Peaks. The thing is, with the new Twin Peaks coming up (not to mention Riverdale, which seems to want to be Twin Peaks, Jr.), I feel like I should probably give the original another whirl. The vibe of the marketing we’ve seen so far, including the above teaser, has me intrigued.

According to Deadline Hollywood, this new, 18-part follow-up to the hit ABC series “picks up 25 years after the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town were stunned when their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. MacLachlan will be joined by several other cast members from the original series, including Lynch himself in a role as FBI Agent Gordon Cole, as well as several new cast members.”

Twin Peaks returns on May 21 at 9 PM with a 2-hour premiere. Episodes 3 and 4 will be made available on Showtime’s digital platform immediately after the premiere, so that you can sort-of binge if you love it.

Meanwhile, I have my wife’s old Twin Peaks DVDs to get through!
