Smash Bros. for 3DS Video Leaks Confirm New, Fan Favorite Characters [Updated]

Want to know who’s going to be in the new Smash Bros. games? Of course you do! But if you want to know right now instead of waiting on Miiverse posts, you’re finally in luck. Spoilers ahead, obviously. Read on at your own risk.

So the leaked character select screen images from the 19th may not be entirely believable—the Duck Hunt dog? Dr. Mario and Dark Pit as characters and not just alternate costumes?—but these videos showing off Bowser Jr. and Shulk, the main protagonist of Wii-exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles, are a little harder to discredit. Ganondorf is there, too, but I don’t think anyone doubted he’d be back.

If these are fakes, they’re incredibly well done—trust me. Animating Smash Bros. fighters is no easy task, and the editing that’d be involved in getting fakes into this video… it’s highly unlikely these aren’t real. Leaks are inevitable as the game’s September 13 Japan/October 3 North America release draws near.

Here’s the footage of the new characters in action (Bowser Jr. is in the Junior Clown Car, so you’re looking for a round white thing more than a mini bowser in the videos):

It should be noted, while the “leaked” character select images got both Bowser Jr. and Shulk right, that doesn’t mean it’s not a fake. Fake leaks have gotten things right in the past, and both of those characters have been highly requested. I’m still inclined to think the screenshots are fake because of Doc and Dark Pit, but Shulk and Bowser Jr. look pretty definite at this point.
