Here’s a treat for both Sonic and Zelda fans. Check out Sonic looking cute as ever in his Link cosplay in the latest update for Sonic Lost World. A “Legend of Zelda Zone” stage will be available for download on March 27th in the Wii U eShop, and it’s free!

The DLC is only available for Wii U however, so sorry 3DS fans.

We know this isn’t the first time Sega has incorporated elements of Nintendo in their games. A few months ago, the game included a level based on Yoshi’s Island. Now, players can watch our favorite hedgehog dress up as our beloved hero, Link in the new DLC.

This update feels more like a Zelda game and less of a Sonic one. We are used to the scrolling platform of collecting golden rings, or eggs as was the case for the Yoshi Island Zone. Think of the Zelda stage as an elaborate side quest straying from the side scrolls and delving further into adventures in an open Zelda world. Sonic gets to explore familiar Zelda elements like Hyrule Castle, open treasure chests filled with hearts and overcome all sorts of obstacles.

Unfortunately, Sonic doesn’t wield any weapons like the actual Zelda games, so you will have to rely on his regular moves. Despite this small disappointment, the open world presented in Sonic Lost World through a Zelda game setting looks promising.
