We just thought you should know. More from Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner how she came to own the coolest pet ever is behind the cut.
The death of Sansa Stark’s direwolf, Lady—sentenced to die after a completely different direwolf bit Joffrey, the show’s most hated character—is one of the most traumatic events in Game of Thrones so far. And in a show where the ostensible main character is killed in the first season and a little thing called the Red Wedding occurs, that’s saying something. Luckily, a profile of Turner in the Coventry Telegraph let us know that the real-life Lady’s fate wasn’t so… dire:
In between her hectic filming schedule, Sophie likes nothing more than to relax at home with her family and pet dog Zunni, who the family adopted from the series. She adds: “Growing up I always wanted a dog, but my parents never wanted one. We kind of fell in love with my character’s dire wolf, Lady, on set.
‘We knew Lady died and they wanted to re home her. My mum persuaded them to let us adopt her.”
Whew. Well that made my heart grow three sizes. Turner also had some things to say about her fellow cast-members:
“On set everyone is friends with everyone. I am really close with Natalie Dormer ([Margaery Tyrell]) and Sibel Kekilli (Shae).
“Jack Gleeson who plays Joffrey is one of the most lovely, intelligent and funny people on set – he’s just so nice, unlike his character.
“Kit (Harington) [Jon Snow] is lovely but I do not get so many scenes with him. He’s like an older brother to me, as is Richard (Madden – who plays Rob Stark).”
It’s a testament to Gleeson’s acting skills that even given how nice he apparently I still have a very visceral reaction to the idea of Turner bringing Lady—sorry, Zunni—back to one of the sets to, I don’t know, catch up with the other direwolves. You stay away from Lady, Joffrey!
