CBS All Access has beamed up the trailer for season two of Star Trek: Discovery and there’s a lot to get excited about: Michelle Yeoh! The Enterprise! Hot Bearded Spock!

Ethan Peck (grandson of Gregory) has joined the series to play young Spock, who encounters the crew of the Discovery after they answer a distress call from The USS Enterprise. We’ll have to wait and see who else (if any) fan favorites from the Enterprise will also show up in the series.

While Spock did not appear in season one of the series, he was already a part of the series framework. He was First Officer Michael Burnham’s (Sonequa Martin-Green) foster brother, and the two were raised together by Sarek (James Frain). Executive producer Alex Kurtzman said of Peck’s casting:

“Through 52 years of television and film, a parallel universe and a mirror universe, Mr. Spock remains the only member of the original bridge crew to span every era of Star Trek. The great Leonard Nimoy, then the brilliant Zachary Quinto, brought incomparable humanity to a character forever torn between logic and emotion. We searched for months for an actor who would, like them, bring his own interpretation to the role. An actor who would, like them, effortlessly embody Spock’s greatest qualities, beyond obvious logic: empathy, intuition, compassion, confusion, and yearning. Ethan Peck walked into the room inhabiting all of these qualities, aware of his daunting responsibility to Leonard, Zack, and the fans, and ready to confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding on Spock’s legacy. In that spirit, we’re thrilled to welcome him to the family.”

Ethan Peck, for his part, has been open about his enthusiasm for the role, even meeting with Leonard Nimoy’s family in preparation for the role.

In addition to thirst trap Spock, the trailer teases the arrival of the Red Angel, a harbinger of the apocalypse and threat to all living beings in the universe. We also get the glorious return of Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) who has joined Starfleet’s Section 31. Yeoh has been in talks with CBS All Access about a spin-off series for her character. CBS All Access has already announced a new solo series following the adventures of Captain Picard, as well as an animated comedy series about life below the decks of Starfleet.

Star Trek: Discovery season two premieres on January 17, 2019. Will you be watching?
