Not that this should come as a surprise to anyone, byt STARZ has renewed American Gods for a second season.  The highly acclaimed show based on Neil Gaiman’s equally praised novel has only aired a few episodes so far but has established itself as the thing to watch.
Per Deadline, it’s currently unclear how many episodes will make up next season but I’d it expect to be comprised of at least eight (the number of episodes in this season). “Bryan Fuller, Michael Green and Neil Gaiman have evolved the art form of television narratively, structurally and graphically with American Gods, and we’re thrilled to be working again with these artists as they continue to build the worlds and wars of the gods,” Starz programming president Carmi Zlotnik said following the announcement.
The show centers on an ex-convict named Shadow who meets a mysterious man going by the name “Wednesday” who knows way too much about Shadow’s life. It stars Ian McShane, Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Orlando Jones, Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Bruce Langley, Crispin Glover, Gillian Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth, Jonathan Tucker and Cloris Leachman. Executive producers include former Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller and Gaiman, which explains why the show is so beautifully told both visually and linguistically.
Congrats!
