I don’t know about you guys, but I could do with a bit of something beautiful on the internet today. To that end, here’s the new US trailer for Studio Ghibli’s The Tale of Princess Kaguya. Don’t go in expecting Ghibli’s signature art style, though. The visuals here are totally, wonderfully different, a powerful blend of pencil lines and rough edges. Color me intrigued.
The film is based on the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, a 10th-century Japanese folktale, and was released in Japan last year. A stateside release is slated for October 17.
