Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje spoke to The Hollywood Reporter recently about Suicide Squad and revealed some great behind-the-scenes shenanigans. He told THR director David Ayer’s had the gathered the actors, including “Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne” and Akinnuoye-Agbaje before principal photography began rehearsing to make them bond.

When we got to the film, we were already a squad. We partied together, we ate together, we worked out together. What you’ll see in the movie, the relationships are very organic, and that’s David’s process. He wanted a real team of people that he handpicked to get along. It brought us together as a unit.

This is slightly surprising as it conflicts with Will Smith previous comment that he barely interacted with Jared Leto, stating “I literally have not met him yet.” Still, it’s nice to see some fun injected in the Suicide Squad preparation since many of us were uncomfortable with how much talk around the film circled around dead rats and therapy. Akinnuoye-Agbaje also said that they added a “rec room” at Smith’s request equipped with ping-pong, basketball hoops, and a DJ table where they’d celebrate birthdays, watch sports, and play music.

It was a real Disneyland. If you’re going to do those type of movies, he’s the guy you want to do them with. And that’s the way to do it…There was a DJ set where Will started rapping. He was the one rallying the troops. He’s a consummate professional and celebrity and he’s a mentor to me in that regard because he shows you how it should be done.

I’m picturing the whole crew gettin’ jiggy wit it in the rec room, and it’s fantastic.anigif_enhanced-26468-1411679367-11
