The CW’s Supergirl returns in January and kicks-off with the episode “Supergirl Lives,” directed by Kevin Smith! Check out the first promo for the episode above!

One thing to be excited about (in addition to Smith directing after he did an awesome job on The Flash with “The Runaway Dinosaur”) is the return of Dichen Lachman as Roulette, as she should basically be cast on every show ever. We also have Winn’s first official foray into the field as a DEO agent, and what seems to be a trip to another planet for Supergirl…a planet on which she can get injured and bleed?

In addition to the promo, check out the above on-set video from the set of Supergirl in which Kevin Smith gives us a peek into his process (he basically stands around while other people do stuff?) and how Melissa Benoist flies! It’s pretty cool if you’re into the behind-the-scenes thing. Also, Smith’s narration is pretty hilarious.

Supergirl returns January 23rd on The CW (and my Supergirl recaps return on the 24th!) Are you looking forward to the second half of Supergirl Season 2?
