We’re big fans of what Syfy is putting out these days in their original series–and the trailer for their newest show, Wynonna Earp looks like it’ll be a fun addition to an already-entertaining line-up.

Based on the character from IDW, the show will star Melanie Scrofano in the title role of Wynonna Earp, descendant of the famed lawman Wyatt Earp, who works as a special agent for the U.S. Marshals on a squad whose main responsibility it is to take down all kinds of bad monsters and other supernatural threats. So, in essence, it sounds like what would happen if you took Supernatural and crossed it with, I don’t know, Hellboy (at least as far as a government-issued unit whose responsibility it is to take down evil)?

Here’s the official synopsis for the show:

After years on the run and in juvenile detention, Wynonna Earp is finally coming home. The only problem is no one back home wants her to return. But when she becomes the town’s only hope of eradicating mysterious demons, Wynonna must choose which side of the law she wants to fight on in order to clear the name of her legendary great grandfather Wyatt Earp once and for all.

Wynonna Earp will premier on Syfy on Friday, April 1st. I think I may have to check out the comics before the show itself premieres; who’s with me?
