The nostalgia-fueled reboots are still going strong–a remake for Lost in Space has been in the works since 2014 when the series was first confirmed to be moving forward, but in June it emerged out from the black hole of project limbo when it got a series order over at Netflix, with a set premiere date in 2018. Since then, it’s been all quiet on the (space?) Western front… until now.

TVLine is exclusively confirming that the Lost in Space reboot has cast its first actor–Falling Skies actress Taylor Russell will be playing the part of Judy Robinson, the eldest daughter of the Robinson family. Judy was originally portrayed by actress Marta Kristen in the 1960s television show and later by Heather Graham in the 1998 movie.

In addition to Falling Skies, Russell is probably most well-known for her role as Lark Voorhies in Lifetime’s Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story.

After the news broke, Russell took to Twitter to announce her excitement over “joining the Netflix family:”

No other cast members have been confirmed yet, but this is a potentially exciting preview of things to come from the Netflix reimagining.
