Credit to the Marvel/Disney team-up where it’s due: they’re very good at making me suddenly care about the most obscure characters in their line-up. A guy who doesn’t have any superpowers and just shoots arrows? Yes please. A talking tree and a space raccoon? Sign me up. Now they’ve officially sold me on Hiro Hanada and his squee-inducing android Baymax.
According to Disney, Hanada (changed from Takachiho for some reason) and Baymax will be joined by four other characters on a quest to save San Fransokyo — a futuristic amalgam of San Francisco and Tokyo — from some kind of nefarious criminal. While it’s odd that Disney isn’t visually capitalizing on the success of its Marvel films, there’s no denying that the opening theme music is right outta Avengers, so at the very least they’re trying to get the attention of the same audience. Or the same audience’s kids, at least.
The film premieres on November 7th of this year, so expect a whole lot more cuteness between now and then.
